Born in Tucson, Local artist Peña grew up in a musical family surrounded by cassettetapes full of Jazz, soul & funk. After establishing himself in Phoenix where Peña shared the stage with jazz artist Eric Schneider, Wycliffe Gordon, Bob Mintzer, Donny McCaslin, and Chris Cheek while in the ASU and Scottsdale Community College Big Bands. He has also played with local artists such as Dom Moio, Brice Winston, Dmitri Matheny, and recently Pete Swan. Gigging throughout the Southwest and in Mexico, more locally he has made multiple appearances at the Tucson Jazz Festival, as well as Tour De Fat, Arizona Mardi Gras, Talking Stick's Oktoberfest, Paradise Valley Jazz Party and the Chandler Jazz Festival.
